Dodge Southeastern Circuit Finals Rodeo Barrelman
Rockin' Robbie Hodges has established himself as one of the professional rodeo world's hottest barrel man and funny guy personalities. In only five short years as a barrelman he was awarded his first WRANGLER NATIONAL FINALS RODEO in 2010.His quick wit and off the cuff banter, as well as carefully thought out acts, keep the crowd entertained and looking at him for the entire performance. Robbie always promotes positive, non-violent, clean family humor, and has an uncanny knack for instantly bonding with audiences of all ages. He genuinely enjoys being a rodeo clown because he likes to talk to and entertain people, especially children. He eagerly takes on the rodeo performance, attempting to personalize each show by taking the time to talk to and get to know as many families as possible. With his unusual skills as a barrelman he has been acclaimed by bull fighters, rodeo announcers, stock contractors, and cowboys alike as being the most exciting barrelman in rodeo today
Behind the painted face and rag tag clothes of Rodeo Clown Hollywood, lies a Texas native, Clifton Harris. Harris always dreamed of being a rodeo clown. As a child, Harris was fascinated by two Texas clowns, Dan and Billy willis. He spent months studying the work of master rodeo clowns, including veterans Quail Dobbs, Lecile Harris, [no kin] and John Gilstrap. Cliff became hooked on the comedic skills of Don Knotts [Barney Fife on the Andy Griffith Show], Red Skelton and the Three Stooges. Physical comedy was always a personal favorite and performers like Steve Martin, TIm Conway and Jim Carrey have been role models. Harris is regarded as one of the most innovative clowns in rodeo, since his start in 1984. He has been chosen to perform at International Finals Rodeos, both as Comedy Act and Barrel Clown... Harris won a record 6 events at the IFR Contract Act Show in Oklahoma City including Comedy Act, Dress Act, and the Barrel Man Competition! |
The Laughlin Series Finals, and many Bud Light Cup Invitationals.Harris prides himself on keeping his act fresh and original. His popular cast of characters includes: Quick Draw McGraw, [a mechanical outlaw that matches wits with Hollywood] and Dino the Rope-a-Saurus, which features him astride a 6 foot tall inflatable dinosaur that is as difficult to get into the roping box as many of the high strung horses of the calf ropers.
Harris loves magic and is an accomplished Illusionist and Sleight-of-Hand artist. One of his most acclaimed acts is an illusion called "Hollywood Houdini" [The Metamorphisis] ..... Hollywood magically changes places with an assistant who is locked in a box.
Sixteen year old son Brinson James accompany Harris on the road full time. Brinson joined the act as "Boogerhead the Rodeo Clown" and is the most accomplished young clown on the pro rodeo circuit. He also goes on the road doing shows with his trick roping.
When Harris is not clowing around him and his wife Kelly Harris own a shop called Coffe n' Cream in Micanopy, Florida
Harris know that what keeps him in tune with the younger crown is that he is still a kid himself. Rodeo is the reason the kids come ... But without Hollywood and Boogerhead, the experience wouldn't be the same ...
Rocket Ryan
Rocket Ryan began his rodeo career like many, riding bulls. He quickly moved to other side of the latch working as a bullfighter doing a few small acts. His passion for entertaining soon took over and the rest is history. Rocket worked his way up through the amateur associations as a Barrelman earning praise and accolades along the way. In 2002 Ryan was awarded the Northern Rodeo Association’s Funnyman of the Year award as well as appearing in a magazine ad for Browning Arms who then became a sponsor. 2004 saw Rocket voted as the Barrelman for the World Professional Bullriders Finals and as the subject of numerous newspaper articles across the Northwest. As people started to sit up and take notice of this up and coming entertainer, Rocket Ryan began to work some bigger events such as the Montana State University Spring Rodeo three years running and some PBR Challenger Tour events that he still works to this day.
MAKING HIS MARK
2005 was Rocket Ryan’s breakthrough year as he earned his PRCA card as well as signing a contract with the CBR (Championship Bull Riding) to be their Team ASE man in the can at events televised on the Outdoor Channel. Rocket Ryan’s unique style of quick wit, unscripted humor and crowd interaction was a big hit and producers looking for something different and fresh began to call. That year Ryan worked the CBR World Finals, an honor that remains one of the highlights of his career. He was chosen to work them again in 2006 making that highlight all the more special. 2006 saw Rocket all over the country working as the Barrelman for Jerry Nelson’s Bad Boys PBR tour, as well as every televised CBR event. 2007 had Ryan all over the country working the Live Nation and George Marshall produced Enterprise Tour PBR events, and PRCA Rodeos from Montana to Texas. 2008 was another year very busy with PBR events for Jerome Robinson, Chad Berger & Lazy E events as well as PRCA rodeos like Rapid City Range Days in South Dakota and Riverside California. 2009 and 2010 brought more of the same with Rocket in the road all winter at PBR Touring Pro Events and from Spring into the Fall with PRCA Rodeos. In these 5 years Rocket has worked more than 60 PBR Events and almost 200 Rodeo performances from Montana to Texas and Coast to Coast. Runs in the Badlands Circuit, Mountain States Circuit and the Texas Circuit kept him busiest. A trip to Australia in 2010 to work the PBR Australia Tour is a highlight and that made the third country he was in just that year. A true Road Warrior, Rocket Ryan lives the Rodeo lifestyle and for him there is no Off-Season. With his high energy, new age style, Ryan is a perfect fit for Bull Riding events, but still works as many PRCA Rodeos as he can fit in his schedule. Committees looking for something different than the traditional rodeo clown who recites old jokes are noticing this entertainer who remains on the industry’s radar as one of the best.
Rocket Ryan is a true industry professional who has given a lot back to the sport that has given him so much. He makes his living solely from traveling the country entertaining Rodeo and Bull Riding fans and has built a following with his unique style of crowd interaction, making the fans part of the event. He gives everything he has at each and every event whether there are 30,000 or 300 in attendance because his life is all about promoting the sport that has given him the chance to live his dreams. Rocket Ryan has hours and hours of media experience, doing countless radio and television interviews, autograph signings and public appearances. Rocket Ryan’s goal is to make Rodeo and Bull Riding America’s number one extreme sport and he believes in the need to cross over traditional barriers to bring this industry into the new generation. Rocket brings class and professionalism to each event he is a part of and when in the arena he flat rocks the house and works the crowd like no one can. So if you are ready for a new level of Rodeo entertainment, find out why people everywhere are talking about Rocket Ryan.
